Earth Hour

In 2010 Carmarthen marked Earth Hour with a special day in St Peter's Civic Hall, in partnership with Friends of the Earth.

The event included a debate on environmental issues, electricity generation by Towy Riders, and stalls and activities throughout the day.

The electricity generation was especially impressive, with young cyclists from the Towy Riders cycling for one and a half hours to light the hall. The Town Council is hoping that in future years other landmark buildings across the County will be encouraged to participate in Earth Hour by switching off their flood lights and other lighting at 8.30 pm on the 27th March.
